Impact of intestinal lipophilic metabolites on thermogenic responses by brown and white adipose tissue

Microbial and dietary lipophilic metabolites reach the systemic circulation via intestinal-derived chylomicrons. These triglyceride-rich chylomicrons play an important role for energy maintenance of activated brown adipose tissue under conditions of high thermogenic demand. This project aims to study the relevance of vitamin K and lipophilic bile acids delivered by chylomicrons for adaptive thermogenesis and systemic energy metabolism. The project P02 will investigate the organ crosstalk in humanized models for bile acid signaling and the gut microbiome.
