Our first International Conference on ‘Brown and Beige Fat - Organ Crosstalk, Signaling and Energetics’ brought BAT scientists from 20 countries in Hamburg together to discuss their latest research in the field of brown and beige fat. The conference took place at the campus of the Bucerius Law School located in the beautiful and large Planten Un Bloomen park. During three days, speakers with different scientific backgrounds gave 29 talks in seven sessions from ‘Energy Handling’ over ‘Signals and Pathway in Adipose Tissue’ to ‘Cellular Models’. The early career researchers could network during two poster sessions and had additional opportunities at the boat trip on the Elbe river as social event. Here, observing ship handling in the harbor, seeing seals from the open upper deck and the Rising Stars Award ceremony were some highlights to name.
