We recently identified the ligand-receptor FNDC4-GPR116 signaling pathway and demonstrated that it mediates a liver - WAT cross talk, controlling systemic glucose homeostasis. In this project, we will investigate the role of this novel hormone and its receptor in cold and feeding patterns/diet-induced adaptive thermogenesis. In addition, we will clarify the adipose tissue depots and species-specific differences of this novel signaling pathway.
