Regulation of thermogenesis through the aryl hydrocarbon receptor repressor (AhRR) and CYP1 monooxygenases in endothelial cells and preadipocytes

The Aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) is a ligand-activated transcription factor, regulated by the AhR Repressor (AhRR) and CYP1 monooxygenases. We have discovered that AhRR-deficient mice are protected from diet-induced obesity and feature signs of browning. In this project, we want to investigate the influence of AhR regulators on the interaction of preadipocytes and endothelial cells with brown/beige adipocytes to ultimately identify AhR-dependent mediators regulating thermogenesis.
