Fibroblast growth factor induced uncoupling protein 1 expression in preadipocytes causes lasting functional changes in white and brown adipocytes

Uncoupling protein 1 (UCP1) is a unique thermogenic protein of brown adipose tissue. This project explores a previously unrecognized role of UCP1 in adipocyte precursor cells and how its induction by fibroblast growth factors shapes the metabolic and inflammatory properties of mature adipocytes. By combining in vitro and in vivo approaches, we aim to uncover novel mechanisms linking mitochondrial function, immune regulation, and thermogenesis, with potential implications for metabolic health.
