This year’s Girls’ and Boys’ Day on April 23 was fully booked with 14 participants and a great success. Four boys and ten girls spent a varied and engaging day at our institute, gaining exciting insights into the daily work of laboratory technicians and scientists. The participants were consistently enthusiastic, actively engaged, and followed the activities with great interest.
After a brief round of introductions and questions, the group was given a tour of the laboratories. There, hands-on insights into research work were provided through a range of experiments. The young participants isolated DNA from both bacteria and their own oral mucosa. In addition, they were introduced to current research projects at the Institute of Pharmacology and Toxicology as well as the TRR333 and had the opportunity to observe real fat cells under the microscope.
